Ben qualified as a personal trainer in 2005 having enjoyed sports and activities throughout his childhood, namely basketball and some rock climbing. He went on to University of Chichester where he got his degree in Sport and Exercise science, and graduated in 2009.
He travelled the world working on cruise ships as a personal trainer until 2011. Back on land, he worked in a small gym in Lewes before back-packing around Australia, and working in a gym in Melbourne in 2013.
Returning from his travels in 2014, he started work at a gym in Brighton; Alive Gym.
During the Covid pandemic, Ben decided to go back to the University of Chichester to study physiotherapy. Towards the end of his 1st year, Dynamo Gym was opened and the dream of a unique strength training space was born in 2021.
The membership filled to a point where a second space was required. Ben took a year out from his studies to open up Gym 2, which was officially opened in 2023.
In 2024, Ben finally graduated, and in autumn of that year opened Dynamo Physio, treating patients out of the gym in private sessions, as well as of course still running Dynamo Gym, and personal training too.
Ben has enjoyed dipping his toes in multiple strength disciplines having competed in powerlifting, strongman and odd-lift competitions. Alongside all of this, Ben does enjoy things outside the gym such as running, long walks, playing computer games, hip hop, and definitely drinking lots of lattes.

Cat gained her masters in social care in 2009 from the University of Brighton. She was a practicing mental health worker for over 10 years, specialising in domestic violence cases and advocating for victims. Through her 10 years she worked with some of the most vulnerable people, helping guide behaviour change through evidenced practice. When she then trained as a personal trainer, these skills were extremely transferable, helping to set her apart in the fitness industry.
She draws on those skills directly in her coaching, supporting members through behaviour change and health improvement, not just physical training.
Cat co-founded Dynamo with over 25 years of combined industry experience alongside Ben, building it into the welcoming, inclusive, and community-led gym it is today.
She is a vocal advocate for a more compassionate, inclusive, and better-regulated fitness industry, and believes strongly in tackling the spread of fitness disinformation.
Her coaching philosophy centres on Dynamo being a safe, supportive community, not just a place to train.
