PHYSIOTHERAPY at dynamo
injuries big or small, get in touch and dynamo physiotherapy can help you
What is physiotherapy?
At Dynamo Ben can help you with almost anything musculoskeletal. This incudes injuries or symptoms that affect muscles, tendons, ligaments, bone and/or nerves.
Initial assessment £90 - up to 75 minutes
Initial assessments are where Ben can get to grips with what is going on for you, what injury may have occurred, or why you might be experiencing the symptoms that you have. This is done in 4 stages.
The subjective is where your experience of your injury or symptoms are spoken about, the history of it, the patterns that it seems to follow, descriptors of the symptoms, the activities that appear to ease it or aggravate it, and other such relevant information.
The objective is where movements may be assessed to see what potentially provokes what is going on, or eases what is going on, what you may be limited by in certain ranges at certain joints. It helps further paint the picture of your chief complaint and is guided a lot by the answers in the subjective.
The analysis is where we can come up with a working theory as to what may have or may be happening to cause your injury or symptoms. This often isn’t always answered in the first session, or even in subsequent sessions, but through the objective and subjective a good hypothesios will still be obtained.
Lastly, a plan will be put together to hopefully help the injury or symptoms you are experiencing.
FOLLOW UP £50 - up to 30 minutes
In the follow up it is very similar to the initial assessment. More often than not, most of the information gathered in the initial can either be repeated to see how we are progressing, or further questions or assessments may be done if there are still some things to rule in or out.
What do you mean by musculoskeletal?
This refers to the musculoskeletal system, including tendons, ligaments, bone, muscle and/or nerves. There are many things that can happen throughout our lifetime. You may have had an event where you have tripped, thrown something, overdone something, or even at times not necessarily done anything, but ultimately, realised something isn’t feeling right, and decide to see a physiotherapist. This is where through the assessment, we can find out what might be going on depending on what has gone on. Due to the nature of some of these tissues, they will bring up different symptoms. As we start to pick apart what might’ve gone on, and how you’re moving, and anything else relevant, we can potentially help you facilitate recovery and get you back on the right track.
What should I wear to an appointment?
If your symptoms are affecting your lower body, please wear shorts to the appointment. If your symptoms are affecting your upper body, please wear a vest top to your appointment. If you are attending in winter, make sure to layer up as it can get quite cold in the gym.
WHat DO i need to do once we have an initial assessment booked?
You will need to fill out a form at least 24 hours before your appointment that covers a lot of what has been mentioned above. It follows a very similar format to the initial assessment, asking a lot of the subjective questions that will help guide Ben to assess you efficiently, and do any necessary reading prior to your assessment. If you do not fill the form out in time, it will make it difficult to get everything done in a timely manner, and may hinder how efficently the initial assessment may go, so please bear that in mind.
I’ve seen a consultant/physio/healthcare professional previously and/or had imaging/scans done previously
If this is the case, you will very likely have documentation that will really help Ben further the investigation/further understand what is going on for you. Upon booking your initial assessment, you will be requested to send all documentation that you have over. You may need to contact your consultant/GP/physio/healthcare provider to get them to send Ben all relevant information.
How many sessions will I need?
This is difficult to answer. If your symptoms haven’t been around for very long, and you are on a positive trajectory after a session or two, it’s unlikley you’ll need much more from me. If your symptoms have been around for a long time, you’ll likely need to have multiple sessions before we can potentially see meaningful improvement.
I am being treated by the NHS, can I still see you?
In short, if you want to be able to see me alongside your NHS physio, that is fine. It would be useful to be able to communicate with them as it would be in all our interest to make sure we are all working on the same hypothesis and treatment route. Sometimes this can muddy the waters, and it might be more in your interest to stick with one or the other.
I have health insurance, am i covered when i come see you?
Unfortunately you will not be able to claim on your insurance when you see me.
